Bio
Yoga
I’ve been teaching yoga since June 2018, when I finished my formal training with Sun and Moon Yoga Studio in Northern Virginia. I’ve been registered with Yoga Alliance (RYT-200) since January 2019. Yoga Alliance is a nonprofit registry and professional organization that specifies standards regarding yoga continuing education studies, ethics, and current teaching hours. See www.yogaalliance.org for more details.
Inclusivity and accessibility are two important elements for me in teaching yoga. I enjoy exploring and presenting ways to modify poses to make them accessible to all people, regardless of any limitations that may be present.
Writing
I’ve been writing in different capacities for a while. I started journaling as a teen, and I enjoyed watching lengthy research papers come together in college. Professionally, I wrote examination reports and procedures when I worked for five years at FINRA, a financial services industry regulatory agency. Subsequently, I compiled a monthly newsletter for a small, securities-consulting practice at KPMG for eleven years, until 2009. After a reduction in force, I decided to focus on my family and myself, including my personal interests. These have included yoga, as well as writing, editing, and proofreading materials for friends, family members and paying clients. Although one of my favorite things is to explore myself through the writing process, so I do it whenever I can.
gratitude and thanks
I’d like to express gratitude to my talented daughter, Rebecca Leigh, for helping create this amazing website. I also appreciate the fantastic photographers at Unsplash and their beautiful images!
